K.T. Rama Rao, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister of Telangana, inaugurated the Balanagar flyover in Hyderabad, Telangana.
The 1.3 km Balanagar flyover was constructed to ease traffic in the busy City (Hyderabad) of Telangana. The flyover is expected to ease the traffic congestion from areas like Kukatpally Y Junction, to Medchal Highway and Rajiv Rahadari, making travel faster and easier, especially during peak hours for commuters.
Under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP,) the flyover was constructed at a cost of Rs. 387 crores. Of the total, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government spent Rs. 265 crores on land acquisition and Rs.122 crores on the construction.
The special feature of this six way, two lane 24 metre wide flyover is its 6 mm thick Asphaltic sheet, which would protect the steel from absorbing water and would not damage the material of the flyover.
It is to be noted, the construction of the Balanagar flyover was completed in a span of 4 years. On the 21st of August 2017, the Municipal Administration Minister K.T.Rama Rao laid the foundation stone of the flyover. Besides K.T. Rama Rao, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, the Animal Husbandry Minister of Telangana, Malla Reddy, the Telangana Minister of Labour, Employment, Women and Child Development, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) Naveen Rao nad MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao were present during the inauguration event.
