Recently, on the 5th of November, a new development was reported in the Aryan Khan Drug Case.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) which was investigating the Cruise Drug Case against Aryan Khan, the son of Bollywood actor Mr. Shah Rukh Khan and 3 others, transferred the case from Mumbai Zone headed by Mr. Sameer Wankhede to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Indian Public Service (IPS) officer Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh.

The decision to transfer the case was based on the allegations of corruption and procedural lapses in the Aryan Khan Drug case by Mr. Sameer Wankhede and his team. The National Congress Party (NCP) leader and Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Mr. Nawab Malik also alleged Mr. Sameer Wankhede of forging his documents to get a government job, lying about his religion and arresting people in “bogus” drugs cases.

The NCB acted upon the allegations and after an initial inquiry, the vigilance team of the NCB suggested to transfer the case to another officer and formed a SIT team. An official close to the developments, who wished to be anonymous said, “The idea behind shifting these sensitive cases is to see them in a completely transparent prism of facts and evidence. The Central Unit will avoid unnecessary controversy around high profile cases like Aryan Khan’s.”

In 2008, he worked with the CBI till 2015 as Deputy Inspector General (DIG.) During his tenure, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh handled several high-profile cases.

In January 2021, Sanjay Kumar Singh was sent on deputation to the central agency and he joined the Narcotics Control Bureau as the deputy director general (DDG.)
