The Loudspeaker row intensified in Maharashtra after the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers played Hanuman Chalisa on a loudspeaker near mosques across the State.
Notably, the MNS President Mr. Raj Thackeray warned of the use of loudspeakers outside mosques and said, after the 4th of May, if the loudspeakers are not removed, the MNS leaders will play Hanuman Chalisa (religious chant) on loudspeakers.
After the announcement of Mr. Raj Thackeray, videos of MNS worker, holding the party flag, was seen playing the Hanuman Chalisa on a loudspeaker from a high-rise here. Many such videos are being shared and going viral on social media platforms. They also raised slogans like “Jai Shri Ram” and “Maharashtra Navnirman Sena cha…Jai so”
The step came after the Mumbai Police registered a case against MNS President. After the registered case, MNS Chief urged people to play the Hanuman Chalisa on loudspeakers on Wednesday, wherever they hear loudspeakers “blaring azaan (Islamic prayer call.)
In an open letter, Mr. Raj Thackeray had asked people to lodge complaints with the police by dialling 100 if they are disturbed by the sound of ‘azaan’. He said, “I appeal to all Hindus that tomorrow, the 4th of May, if you hear the loudspeaker blaring with azaan; in those places, play Hanuman Chalisa on loudspeakers. That’s when they will realise the hindrance of these loudspeakers.”
Meanwhile, so far 250 MNS workers have been detained in the matter across the State.
