In Andhra Pradesh’s East Godavari district, the Rajamahendravaram Police arrested seven people, accused of harassing a couple. The accused were allegedly harassing a couple identified as Kolli Durga Rao and Ramya Lakshmir, over a loan, which they took from an application.
Frustrated by the continuous harassment, the couple allegedly committed suicide, following which the district police registered a case and launched an investigation. Furthermore, Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, reacted strongly to the increasing number of loan app victims in the State and ordered police to take strict action against the culprits. Notably, the investigation against the Handy Loan and Speed Loan apps started on the 7th of September and within a week they arrested 7 accused.
District in charge Superintendent of Police (SP) Mr. Sudhir Kumar Reddy addressed the media and confirmed the arrested of all the seven accused in the loan app harassment case. The Police said, they formed three teams to investigate and nab the accused identified as Lambadi Naresh of Manikonda, Kollur Srinivas Yadav of Miyapur, Madishetti Prithviraj of Timmapuram of Kakinada district, Nakka Sumanth of Eleswaram, Manda Veeravenkata Hari Babu of Annavaram, Korupolutha Ramakrishna of KK Agraharam of Visakha district, Danaboina Niskar of Sirasapalli near Anakapalli.
After examining their bank accounts, it was found that transactions of crores of rupees were held in the past. The accused maintained different accounts every month to avoid the suspicion of the bank officials and used to harass many people for loan recoveries.
The investigation into the fraud loan apps and loan app harassment has intensified and more culprits would be caught soon.
