Amaravati: The visit by representatives of the World Bank and Asian Development Bank (ADB) to Amaravati concluded on Tuesday, marking a significant step toward securing loans for the city’s construction. The delegation, which arrived on August 20, engaged in extensive discussions with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, state government officials, and the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA).

Over the course of their visit, the representatives conducted field inspections, reviewing various ongoing projects. Key topics discussed included the Amaravati Master Plan, infrastructure development, farmer plot progress, land consolidation, flood management, environmental concerns, and the legal challenges surrounding the city’s development.

CRDA Commissioner Katamaneni Bhaskar briefed the officials on these aspects, emphasizing the state’s commitment to the project. The delegation will return in the third week of September for further discussions, which are expected to bring more clarity regarding the loan approvals.

The CRDA has already prepared a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Amaravati’s reconstruction, estimating the cost at ₹15,000 crores. The report will be reviewed by the central government’s department overseeing foreign loans on August 30, before being forwarded to the World Bank and ADB. Final decisions on the loan proposals are anticipated during the banks’ board meetings in October.
