Hyderabad: Renowned choreographer Johnny Master, also known as Sheikh Janibasha, has been arrested by the Cyberabad SVT police in connection with a rape case. He was taken into custody from a lodge in Goa and will be brought to Hyderabad after appearing in a Goa court. The police plan to present him before the Upparapally court for further legal proceedings.
Case Filed Under POCSO Act
The arrest follows a complaint filed by a 21-year-old female assistant choreographer, who accused Johnny Master of raping her multiple times. A Zero FIR was initially lodged at Rayadurgam police station and later transferred to Narsinghi police station, where a case was registered under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act. After investigating the complaint, police apprehended Johnny Master.
Details of the Victim’s Complaint
In her complaint, the victim recounted her traumatic experiences since joining Johnny Master’s team as an assistant choreographer in 2019. She stated that during a film shoot in Mumbai, Johnny Master allegedly raped her in a hotel and threatened to end her career if she spoke out.
The victim claimed that he continued to assault her during various out-of-town shoots, even misbehaving with her in the vanity van. She further alleged that Johnny Master physically abused her, once grabbing her hair and smashing her head against a mirror.
Unable to endure the harassment, the victim left his team. However, she claimed that Johnny Master sabotaged her attempts to work independently and pressured her into marriage after forcing her to convert.
Intimidation Tactics
In a chilling twist, the victim reported receiving a threatening parcel at her home on August 28. The note inside read, “Congratulations on the baby boy. But be careful.” The police are investigating the matter further to determine the individuals involved.
Johnny Master now faces serious legal consequences as the case progresses in court.
