Tadepalli: YSRCP President and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy criticized Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for allegedly tarnishing the sanctity of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) temple. Jagan accused Naidu of making baseless allegations about ghee adulteration in Tirumala’s Laddu Prasadam to divert public attention from the failures of his first 100 days in office.
During a media interaction at the YSRCP central office, Jagan expressed dismay over Naidu’s exploitation of religious sentiments for political gain. He called Naidu’s claims about ghee adulteration a sign of disrespect for religious institutions and accused him of using the issue to cover up broken election promises, including cash incentives for children, women, and farmers.
Jagan emphasized that the procurement of ghee for Tirumala follows a transparent and stringent process. Ghee suppliers undergo rigorous quality checks, and any substandard batches are rejected. He pointed out that this process was in place even during Naidu’s previous tenure, and questioned why Naidu waited two months to raise the issue, suggesting it was part of a political strategy to deflect attention from pressing issues like flood mismanagement and privatization policies.
Jagan reiterated that under his leadership from 2019 to 2024, 18 ghee consignments were rejected for failing quality tests, and his government had made significant improvements in TTD operations, including modernizing labs and building new temples.
