Tadepalli: MLC Mondithoka Arun Kumar has criticized the recent Davos visit by former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, calling it a failed and costly publicity stunt. Arun Kumar slammed Naidu for returning empty-handed from the prestigious World Economic Forum (WEF) with no tangible outcomes or investments secured for Andhra Pradesh.
Despite the successful visits by the Chief Ministers of Telangana and Maharashtra, who attracted significant investments, Chandrababu’s visit resulted in zero Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), according to Arun Kumar. The MLC questioned the purpose of the trip, suggesting that it was more focused on promoting Naidu’s image and positioning his son, Lokesh, as a successor, rather than securing investments for the state.
Arun Kumar further challenged Naidu by comparing his visit with the achievements of the current Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who brought in investments worth Rs 1.26 lakh crores. He demanded clarity on why Chandrababu could not replicate these results and why Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan was excluded from the trip.
Recalling past failures such as the 2016 MoUs fiasco and unfulfilled promises like the FinTech Valley project and skill development initiatives, Arun Kumar stated that Naidu’s record on securing investments has been disappointing. In contrast, he praised Jagan’s leadership in driving progress, especially in green energy and port development, noting that even Pawan Kalyan acknowledged Jagan’s success in these areas.
