Amaravati: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has expressed strong disapproval of Guntakallu MLA Gummanur Jayaram after a video of him allegedly threatening journalists went viral. TDP state president Palla Srinivasa Rao reportedly called Jayaram and issued a stern warning, emphasizing that such behavior does not align with the party’s principles. Sources indicate that TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu has also insisted on a change in Jayaram’s approach toward the media.

What Did Jayaram Say?

In the viral video, MLA Gummanur Jayaram can be heard warning journalists about writing negative reports concerning him and his brother. “Before writing about me or my younger brother, think carefully. If I am wrong, correct me. Otherwise, you will be slapped. You’ll end up on the train tracks,” he allegedly said. He further warned that if any reporter had concerns, they should address them in his presence, cautioning that consequences would follow if misleading reports were published in his absence.

The incident has sparked outrage, with journalists and media organizations demanding action. The TDP leadership’s intervention indicates the party’s stance against intimidation of the press.
