Tirupati: In a significant development in the Tirumala adulterated ghee case, A5 Apoorva Chavda, a chemical engineering graduate, has reportedly confessed during SIT interrogation that he mixed chemicals in the ghee supplied for Srivari Laddu Prasadam. The revelation has raised critical questions regarding the source of the adulterated ghee, the quantity consumed, and the involvement of others in the scandal.

Seeking further investigation, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has filed a petition in the Second Additional Munsiff Court of Tirupati, requesting extended custody of Apoorva Chavda. The SIT has also sought the custody of A3 Vipin Jain for additional questioning. Legal representatives, including the local Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) and the APP of the CBI court in Vijayawada, argued in favor of the petition.

Meanwhile, Bholebaba Organic Dairy directors Vipin Jain (A3) and Pomil Jain (A4) had filed for bail, but later withdrew their plea due to the pending custody petition. The court, presided over by Judge Koteswara Rao, dismissed the petition on Tuesday. The next hearing for the custody petition has been scheduled for the 27th of this month.
