Artificial intelligence is creating new opportunities in the film industry. However, its misuse has raised concerns among actors about their rights, identity and creative work.
Telugu stars Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on November 2 to discuss the growing misuse of AI and deepfake technology. They urged the government to take steps to protect artists from such misuse.
Chiranjeevi said deepfakes pose a serious threat to artists’ dignity, rights and creative content. He thanked Amit Shah for hearing their concerns and assuring them that the government would examine the issue urgently.
The Home Minister also advised them to submit a written request for further review. He asked Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy to coordinate the matter.
Ram Charan also shared pictures from the meeting. He said the government’s positive response and assurance of stronger safeguards were encouraging.
The meeting has brought fresh attention to the need for better protection of artists as AI technology becomes more widely used.
