Filmmaker KSL Swamy passes away

Bengaluru: Noted Kannada filmmaker Kikkeri Shamanna Lakshminarayana Swamy passed away on Tuesday. He was 77. The veteran filmmaker breathed his last at his residence in the wee hours of Tuesday. He is survived by is wife and son B.V. Radha and daughter Dhanalakshmi.

KSL Swamy was undergoing treatment for a over a month for a respiratory problem at a private hospital. As he was recovering well, he was shifted to home on Monday. In the early hours of Tuesday, the movie maker breathed his last, according to reports.

The successful filmmaker began his journey as an assistant to movie makers – M.R. Vittal and G.V. Iyer. Kannada film “Thoogudeepa” is his debut film and his other movies include – “Huli Hejje”, “Gandhinagara”, “Lagna Pathrike” and “Driver Hanumantha”. He was also honoured with National Award and Padma Bhushan.
