In Andhra Pradesh, as many as 15 movie theaters are to be seized for violating the COVID-19 norms.
On the 22nd of December, Wednesday, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) ordered the seizure of the theaters in Krishna district.
The orders came after the concerned authority inspected theaters running in the Telugu State’s Krishna district. While many of them were running without license, others reported violations in the COVID-19 Standard of Operation (SoP.) Besides license and COVID-19 norms, the authority also inspected if the ticket rates, and fire safety protocols are being followed. The Joint Collector of Krishna, Ms. K. Madhvi Katha along with the Revenue Department Officer (RDO) conducted the inspection and found that the rates of eatables in canteens were higher than ticket rates. It is reported that the authorities would fix the prices in all theaters, including multiplexes, which they need to follow. However, 11 theaters in Krishna including two each in Avanigadda and Bantumilli, and one each in Challapalli, Koduru, Movva, Nagayalanka, Gudivada, Pamarru and Mylavaram were not abiding by the protocols.
After conducting inspections in Krishna district, the concerned authority conducted inspections in theaters in Vizianagaram too. After conducting the searches, the Andhra Pradesh Government, led by Mr. Y.S. Jagah Mohan Reddy ordered the seizure of 15 theaters.
