In a relief to air travellers, the Union Civil Aviation Ministry announced that mask wearing is not compulsory during air travel.
The decision came after the declining number of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) also known as the Wuhan Virus in India. In a communication, released on the 17th of November, the Union Civil Aviation said, “… the in-flight announcements henceforth may only mention that in view of the threat posed by COVID-19, all passengers should preferably use mask/face covers.”
As of now, mask wearing during air travel was mandatory and passengers travelling without any face mask were penalised. However, now with the Civil Aviation Ministry announcement, they no longer would be penalised.
However, the Civil Aviation Ministry urged people to prefer mask wearing during travel, despite it not being mandatory.
