The renowned film maker James Cameron’s next big project is a sequel to the Terminator franchise. But coming to the Alien franchise Cameron is almost done with it. Cameron recently had a one on one with Vulture and gave his opinion about Xenomorphs, which are a part of Alien universe. The next movie of this franchise is all set to release on May 19th and is named Alien: Covenant. The first movie was released 30 years ago and was made by Cameron. The sequels failed to live upto expectations set by Sir Ridley Scott’s original film and Cameron’s sequel.

Speaking about the Alien Universe, the writer director said, “The franchise has kind of wandered all over the map. Ridley [Scott] did the first film, and he inspired an entire generation of filmmakers and science fiction fans with that one movie and there have been so many films that stylistically have derived from it, including my own “Aliens,” which was the legitimate sequel and, I think, the proper heir to his film. I sort of did it as a fanboy. I wanted to honor his film but also say what I needed to say. After that, I don’t take any responsibility.

The director added that the sequel did not work as planned and that they have moved beyond it. James Cameron expressed his dissatisfaction and said, “I think both of those films stand at a certain point in time, as a reference point. But is there any validity to doing another one now? I don’t know. Maybe. Let’s see, jury’s out. Let’s see what Ridley comes up with.

The director said, “Let me just add to that — and don’t cut this part off, please — I will stand in line for any Ridley Scott movie, even a not so great one, because he is such an artist, he’s such a filmmaker. I always learn from him. And what he does with going back to his own franchise would be fascinating.(sic)

James Cameron has always been open about the “Alien” series and he said that they “screwed up the whole franchise” with the “Alien vs. Predator” movies. He also said that he regretted killing some major characters in the movies and that if a sequel is made he wouldn’t mind it but doesn’t look forward to its success.
