On the 29th of March, 2 days after India announced the ASAT missile launch as a part of Mission Shakti, Russia asked India to join hands in an attempt to prevent the weaponization of outer space. With India being the fourth country after Russia, China and the United States to get into this field, this move comes as Russia’s effort to reduce the possibility of stationing weapons  in outer space.

While reaching out to New Delhi, Russia said in a statement, “We noted the test of anti-satellite weapons conducted by India on March 27, as a result of which an Indian spacecraft – a target – in a low earth orbit was hit by an interceptor ballistic missile. We highlight the non directedness of this test against any specific country declared by the Indian leadership, as well as the reassurance of the continuity of New Delhi foreign policy to prevent the deployment of weapons in outer space and thereby the development of an arms race in it.”

The ASAT missile launch carried out by India propelled the Nation into the elite club which fights against space war. Furthermore, while reaching out to India, Russia blamed the United States of America for “undermining the entire architecture of international security and strategic stability,” which led to the ASAT test by India.

By blaming the United States and joining hands with India, Russia urged Washington D.C. to take responsibility for its actions and stop trying to achieve universal military domination.

By partnering with India, Russia hopes to double the amount of effort going into making outer space weapon free.
