15 killed in Philippines market fire

Manila: At least fifteen traders including six children were killed today when a major fire broke out in Philippines. The fire mishap claimed the lives of the traders when they were trapped in a market in the southern Philippines. Nearly thirteen others were wounded in the fire accident. The injured were immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.

According to police, people were killed in the fire mishap at the market place. The accident took place when the victims were sleeping in the padlocked building. It is heard that the fire triggered by the faulty electrical wiring.

Usually the vendors and their families spend nights inside the decrepit market in the port city of Zamboanga to watch over their merchandise. The police added that when fire broke out, the victims were trapped in the building and they failed to escape the massive fire as they couldn’t find their way out.
