As many as 150 people were killed by the suspected Boko Haram militants in northeastern Nigerian villages on Wednesday. The militants killed all the men and children who were offering prayers in mosques. Women were also killed preparing food at home, according to reports.
The militants entered remote villages of Kukawa near Lake Chad on Wednesday evening and killed nearly 97 including women and children, according to eye witnesses.
Another eye witness said that nearly 50 militants had stormed the village and killed muslim worshippers, who were offering prayers shortly after breaking their fast, in different mosques. The witness added that they opened fire on the people, who were men and children. It is heard that the few militants, who arrived in motorcycles and vans, proceeded to houses and shot indiscriminately at women, who were preparing food. In other villages, they killed nearly 48 and also injured 11 others.
