Four killed, 14 injured in Kansas workplace

Kansas: A man allegedly killed three people at a manufacturing plant in central Kansas after driving around after which he opened fire on others in a shooting place which injured 14 and the firing ended when police killed the gunman.

According to the authorities, the shooter appears to have driven around in a car and opened firing at several locations before entering the building. The shooting at Excel Industries was reported shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday, a Harvey County dispatcher said.

A short time later, an active shooter was reported at Excel Industries, a business that manufactures lawn mower products, at 200 South Ridge Road in Hesston. An employee said the gunman came through the production area of the business with what appeared to be an AK-47.

“He chased some office people,” he said “He had an AK and he just started spraying everybody in the production area.”

The shooter, identified by a dispatcher with the Harvey County Sheriff T Walton’s Department as 38-year-old Cedric Ford, began his attacks at about 5 pm local time (2300 GMT) in the town of Newton, where a man driving a truck was shot in the shoulder, Walton said.
