Parliament, Khomeini Mausoleum Under Attack In Iran

On the busy hours of Wednesday, the Iranian Parliament and the Khomeini mausoleum were attacked by armed men. Several people were injured in the parliament building and also near the revolutionary founder Khomeini’s, mausoleum.

According to reports, a member of parliament stated there were three gunmen inside the premises of parliament in central Tehran. They were said to be armed with rifles and pistols. News Agencies said seven people had been killed including a security guard and several injured.

The mausoleum is located 20 kilometers from the parliament building where an armed man was spotted and several injured.

Iran is dominated by Shia’s and has been targeted by Sunni Jihadists time and again. It has also been under constant attack by the Islamic State groups. The country, however, has mostly had safety in urban centers. Iran is also notorious for providing ground forces to Daesh (ISIS) and other rebel groups in Syria and Iraq.
