On Thursday, a court in Goa filed charges against Tarun Tejpal. The Journalist is accused of assaulting and raping a former woman colleague during the year 2013.
Tejpal is the former editor in chief of Tehelka magazine and has been charged with wrongful restraint and harassment.
At the hearing, Tejpal pleaded not guilty to the charges. The trial for the case will start on 21st November.
Tejpal moved the Mumbai High Court on Tuesday after the Goa court refused to drop the charges.
The journalist has sought for a stay on framing of charges until the High Court decides to drop the charges. His argument is based on lack of evidence in the case against him.
The court also instructed that the media will not be allowed to cover the proceedings of the case.
The accusation against Tejpal state that during an event in 2013 at a five star hotel in Goa, he assaulted a junior colleague in the lift.
