A student from IIT Delhi posted a picture of the food from the Hostel mess, that showed a dead rat in the chutney, has gone viral. This led the director of the institute, Ramgopal Rao to address the issue. He put up a Facebook post that read, “I am aware of the incident which happened in the IIT Delhi hostel related to food today. We have formed a committee of 3 wardens to investigate the matter and report to us within 48 hours.”
He further added, “I can assure you that some people in the mess where the incident took place are going to lose their jobs.”
On Tuesday morning, 18 year old Jayant Darokar at the Aravali Boys hostel went to the mess to eat but instead lost his appetite when he found a dead rat chilling in his chutney.
A third year Biochemical Engineering Student was quoted saying, “On Tuesday morning, between 7:30 to 9:30 breakfast is served to us at the Boys Hostel mess. While we had taken our share of the food, one of the students, Jayant shrieked in terror when he found a small dead rat inside the thick white chutney in his thali.”
The Facebook post that Jayant shared with a picture of his food got over 1,300 reactions and 425 shares.
