Hyderabad: Telangana has become the first state in the country to introduce compulsory gender education at the graduate level. The state government has introduced bilingual textbook titled ‘Towards a World of Equals’ on a pilot basis in engineering colleges, among which most of them are affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU-Hyderabad).
This text book of gender education will discuss in composite form without limiting itself to crime against women without repeating gender stereotypes.
Touches upon complex subjects like male-female relationships and female-centric history. It has been structured into simple language to suit under-graduates. Discusses different strands of women’s movements across the world along with political movements of Afro-American, African, Caribbean, minority and Dalit women.
