The Telangana Government was busy yesterday with the launch of the residential schools and also the launch of an online cattle buying and selling website.

The State did so to give the farmers an opportunity to save on regular travel costs to the markets to sell their cattle. Instead the website ‘pashubazar.telangana.gov.in’ will allow farmers to find a seller or buyer without having to travel long distances every day.

The website was launched on Monday by Suresh Chanda, Special Chief Secretary and Animal Husbandry. The website was named and developed with the assistance of the National Information Centre’s (NIC.)

Suresh also mentioned at the launch the new cattle rules that have been issued by the Central government will be made applicable to the sale of cattle on the website.

A message quoted from the website says, “Taking animals physically to weekly markets involves expenditure on travel, care of animal and day long loss of wages/work for the farmer. Further, if (the) animal could not be sold in weekly market, it has to again travel back home. This platform will eliminate all that and create wide publicity for sale of his animals so that (the) farmer gets (a) better price.”

The launch also revealed that at a time one out of five animals from each farmer can be registered for sale. The animal registered on the site will need to be sold within 30 days or the advertisement will be removed automatically.

The website gives you the option of selling or buying bullocks, cows, dogs, buffaloes, sheep and goats.

The previous month the central government issued through the Supreme Court a unique identification system for cattle.

The order read that the Unique Identification Number will have the details of the specific animal such as age, lactation, gender, height, breed, body color, horn type, special mark etc.

This was introduced to reduce and eventually remove inter state and intercountry smuggling of cattle.
