On Saturday police officials said that a total of 115 people had fallen sick after consuming the ‘Prasad’ of a puja at a house in Nakashipara Block in Nadia district of West Bengal.
The puja, at which the ‘prasad’ was served was organized at the house of one Sailendra Singh Roy at Dogachhi-Tegharia. The local villagers were invited on Friday for the same. Nakashipara BDO Samar Dutta said, after eating the ‘Prasad’, they fell ill within hours.
He added that 50 people, including children and women, were hospitalized on Saturday. He also spoke about the Roy family and said the family members of the host were admitted to the hospital too.
“Our health team rushed to the spot on Saturday morning and set up a camp in the area to treat the patients,” Tapash Roy said Nadia Chief Medical Officer of Health. The patients experienced loose motions, nausea, headache, stomach pain and fever, villagers said.
