JNU Students Volunteer To Teach Digital Mode Of Payment To People Across India

The Jawaharlal Nehru University has come up with an initiative to help people learn digital mode of payment. The institute urged its students to volunteer and promote digital awareness in universities and colleges across India. “The process requires your active participation so that all levels of transactions (receipts and payments,) in the campus becomes digital,” said JNU Rector Prof. Chintamani Mahapatra. He further added, “The role of the students and their active participation is critical to spreading awareness among people on the JNU campus as well as nearby areas, villages, shops, markets, including select households and family members.

The initiation of Vittiya Saksharta Abhiyan has got a dynamic response from the students of Jawaharlal Nehru University and is planning to hold workshops for students, faculty and staff in the coming week. The main motive of Vittiya Saksharta Abhiyan is to encourage all the payers and payees to make the best use of the digital mode of payment, especially when the country is severely being affected by Demonetization.

Mr. Mahapatra said, “All JNU students are requested to offer their participation as volunteers to help those who are in need for learning digital mode of payment.

To spread the awareness about Digital transactions, the Human Resource Development Ministry (MHRD) has planned for a one month campaign, starting from 12th December this year.

He added saying, one can visit the MHRD website for further details to participate in the campaign.

About 670 Vice Chancellors and senior officials dealing with higher education in states, were called for a meeting by Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar on Thursday. The meeting was held through a video conferencing in which the officials and the Vice Chancellors said the initiative of Vittiya Saksharta Abhiyan has got an immense response from the students across the country. The campaign will involve each student to introduce their family members as well as 10 others towards digital cashless transactions. The strategy to initiate and help people understand and learn cashless transaction will ultimately prove to be useful to a majority of the Indians.
