Akhilesh Singh, the former Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of the Indian National Congress (INC) from the Raebareli constituency, passed away on the 20th of August.
Mr. Akhilesh, popularly known as the “Robinhood of Raebareli,” was suffering from cancer for a long time and died at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) in Lucknow.
Due to his health issues, Akhilesh did not contest the Lok Sabha elections. Even for the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, he asked the INC to nominate his daughter Aditi Singh on his behalf.
Aditi Singh is the current MLA of the Raebareli Sadar constituency. The demise of Akhilesh Singh is said to be a big loss for the INC, as he was a favourite of the citizens of Raebareli and had a majority of vote banks for the INC.
According to sources, the body of Akhilesh Singh will be taken to his village Lalupur and his last rites will be performed on the evening of the 20th of August.
