After days of political stress and tension, the people of Tamil Nadu find a ray of hope in the news of their Chief Minister Jayalalitha recovering from her current health situation. “One happy news amid the gloom & doom: CM Jaya certainly recovering & out of danger as seen by a close associate who visited her at the hospital,” says a Twitter post by Malini Parthasarathy, former Editor, The Hindu.

There had been many speculations regarding the health of the much loved Chief Minister as no information regarding her well being was released previously. Madras High Court heard the petition filed by Social activist “Traffic” Ramaswamy, on 4th October.  The plea was asking for information on the health of Jayalithaa. After hearing the plea, the Court asked the Government Pleader to get back after consulting the Government about the health of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa by 5 October. The Tamil Nadu Officials could not let go the Court’s orders and had to inform the state about her healthJayalalithaa

The petition was a Public Interest Litigation seeking the details of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s health. In the litigation, the petitioner asked for a detailed report from the government on her health condition and the nature of treatment being carried out in the Apollo Hospital. The litigation states that the people of Tamil Nadu are eager to know about the health condition of their beloved “Amma”. The petitioner also appealed for photos of the Chief Minister to be released. He also complained of the disturbances created by the police officials to keep people away from reaching the hospital.

The Apollo hospitals released reports saying Amma was responding to the treatment well enough. It added that she has been advised to remain in the hospital for some more days for better care to recover fast and to prevent new infections.
