The Adityanath Yogi government banned illegal slaughterhouses in Uttar Pradesh. This caused a shortage of meat in the state. Many hotels and food points were shut down because of this issue.

Now in a turn of events, a wedding was called off in Rampur after the groom’s family demanded beef at the wedding. This incident happened in Dariyagarh village under Bhot constituency in UP.

The groom’s family put a condition that either beef should be served at the wedding or that it will be called off. Apart from a demand for beef, the groom’s family also made a demand for dowry, which did not go well with the bride’s family.

The bride’s mother said, “They demanded beef to be served at the wedding and a car. When we denied them both, they called off the wedding. The government has banned beef. How can we serve it?”

This is not the first incident in UP where the wedding was called off over a beef demand. In the past, many weddings have been disrupted due to the absence of beef on the menu as the bride’s family could not acquire it.

In a similar incident in April, a groom called off the wedding as the girl’s family did not add meat to the menu for the wedding feast.
