On the penultimate day of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Indian golfer Ms. Aditi Ashok missed out on winning the Bronze Medal in the Golf event.

On the 7th of August, Aditi Ashok, an athlete representing India at the Olympics 2020 lost against Ms. Mone Inami and Ms. Lydia Ko of Japan and New Zealand, respectively.

However, Aditi Ashok’s performance was incredible, gaining recognition. With this event, Aditi secured fourth position in the Golf event at the Tokyo Olympics. She also ranked as the 200th best golf player across the world.

In today’s heartbreaking match of Golf, India’s Aditi Ashok scored 269 with 15 under par. She participated in the Individual Stroke Play event of Golf and was defeated in the fourth round. After losing in the fourth round, Golfer Aditi Ashok said, “I think I gave it my 100 per cent, but, yeah, fourth at an Olympics where they give out three medals, kind of sucks. In any other tournament I would be really happy, but it’s hard to be happy with fourth place. I played good and gave it my 100 per cent. Going into the round I didn’t think about it much, it was fine, but obviously coming in (the final stretch) I tried my best to hole the last few putts…in a regular tournament whether you finish second or fourth it really doesn’t matter, no one cares.”

Meanwhile, Nelly Korda of the United States of America (U.S.A.,) won the Gold Medal in the Individual Stroke Play Golf event. The other two players, Mone Inami and Lydia Ko, secured Silver and Bronze medals, respectively.

After the slight miss in securing Bronze, PM Modi spoke to Aditi Ashok and applauded her for her performance and participation. Mr. Modi said, “You went far than any Indian, blazed trail”

The Tokyo Olympics 2020 is set to conclude tomorrow, the 8th of August. The event started from the 23rd of July with the participation of nearly 110 Indian athletes in Tokyo, Japan.
