K.T. Rama Rao, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development and the Information Technology, Electronics and Communications Minister of Telangana, on the 28th of September, launched first responder two wheeler vehicles of the Disaster Response Force (DRF) in Telangana.
The new wing of the DRF will work under the Enforcement Vigilance & Disaster Management wing of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC.)
The DRF two wheeler rescue team was launched in 2018 as an additional service which could be used by the citizens during emergencies. KTR added one more wing to the DRF in order to get quicker rescue operations across the State.
Before giving the green signal to the DRF, KTR inspected the equipment which will be used by the DRF teams.
Bonthu Rammohan, the Mayor of Hyderabad, was also present during the event, which was held at the Training and Transport Yard in Hyderabad, Telangana.
The two wheeler vehicles of the DRF were launched for rescue operations at a time when Hyderabad is witnessing flooding because of continuous rainfall since the 24th of September. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD,) the rainfall is expected to continue till the 30th of September.
