Now Toxic Foam Haunting Hyderabad: Hyderabad witnessed heavy rains on Thursday morning causing stagnant water on roads and a huge inconvenience to the common man. But this was the least of the worries for the residents of Kukatpally, who battled to keep their homes safe from toxic foam.

Allwyn Colony in Kukatpally, which witnessed toxic foam and heavy winds made it even more difficult for the residents. The foam was flying with the wind into the resident’s homes, causing problems.

The toxic foam was coming out of one of the four big nalas in Hyderabad at Dharani Nagar. The people of the city dump industrial wastes that eventually go into Hussain Sagar lake and then the Musi River.

This is not the first time toxic foam has engulfed the area, it was reported in September last year as well.

A local resident complained, “In 2016, the nala broke and polluted water entered into Dharani Nagar. The area was totally filled with water for a week, and residents had to be evacuated. The only way one could access the area was by boat. The GHMC has promised to desilt the nala and check on chemical waste dumping, but the episode has been repeated.”

This is a common sight for people who live on the outskirts of Hyderabad but this is the first time this much foam has come on to the streets in the city.
