Omicron, the new variant of cases of the Wuhan virus, are rising in the Telugu State of Telangana. In the past 24 hours, on the 28th of December, Tuesday, the State reported 7 new Omicron cases.
According to the Telangana Health Department, of the 7 new cases, 4 flew to Hyderabad from “non risky” countries, whereas 3 cases were local residents and could be a result of community transmission. The cases were confirmed after conducting a random genome sequencing test.
With the new three Omicron cases, Telangana now has 62 cases of Omicron, of which 13 people are treated and have been discharged after testing negative. The other remaining cases are being treated at the Telangana Institute of Medical Science (TIMS.)
Meanwhile, in the past 24 hours, the Wuhan virus cases are at 3,549 (active cases) with 228 new cases on Tuesday. As many as 185 patients recovered from the disease and one person died due to COVID-19.
