Queen Elizabeth II will be hosting the UK – India Year of Culture launch at Buckingham Palace on Monday, and all the who’s who of the two countries will be present at the event. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip,  extended a special invite to the Bollywood Superstar Amitabh Bachchan. The star of the millennium, however, declined this invite and sources close to the actor say this is because of his busy schedule.

Speaking to a popular news daily, the source said, “Prior commitments are making it impossible for him to fly to London for the gala. He has already extended his regret to the invitation, citing pre-scheduled commitments, but is honored to receive a special invite from Buckingham Palace.”

Amitabh Bachchan’s publicist speaking to Midday said, “Yes, Mr. Bachchan has been extended a rare invitation by Queen Elizabeth and Buckingham Palace to grace the UK-India Cultural Year reception. Unfortunately, however, he will be unable to attend due to prior commitments.”

The schedule of Amitabh Bachchan includes Ram Gopal Varma’s “Sarkar 3” trailer launch in March first week. He is also preparing for “Thugs of Hindostan” by Vijay Krishna Acharya alongside Aamir Khan and also Gaurang Doshi’s “Aankhen 2.” The other projects include “Dragon” by Ayan Mukherji, Kabir Khan’s next and also a film with Nagraj Manjule of “Sairat” fame.
