On the 22nd of September, a 24 year old woman, died after a piece of a wall fell on her at the Ameerpet Metro Station in Hyderabad, Telangana.
The incident took place on the evening of the 22nd of September when, the woman identified as Mounika, was standing underneath the elevated Metro station and a piece of the Metro wall fell on her head, resulting in a serious head injury.
She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where a doctor declared her brought dead.
N.V.S. Reddy, the Managing Director of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL,) said, “The sharp edge of the piece fell on a young lady’s head from about 9 meters height and she, unfortunately, succumbed to the head injury while she was being taken to a nearby hospital.”
The Hyderabad Police rushed to the accident spot and cordoned off the area and launched an investigation.
Mounika was a resident of Kukatpally and was travelling from Kukatpally to Ameerpet. She lived with her husband Harikanth, who works as an employee at Tata Consultancy Services Limited (TCS.)
The Metro Rail Authority assured to pay compensation to the family of the victim and conveyed condolences to Mounika’s family.
The Hyderabad Police registered a case and are investigating the same.
