The Hyderabad Metro Railway Limited (HMRL,) on the 4th of March, announced to initiate special hygienic drives to spread awareness about the Novel Coronavirus.
The deadly virus which was first reported in China, has now spread to more than 25 countries including India. On the 2nd of March, the Union Health Ministry, reported two positive Coronavirus cases, one in Delhi and the second one in Hyderabad, Telangana.
In the backdrop of this, the HMRL decided to be cautious regarding the virus and maintain hygiene and cleanliness in the stations.
N.V.S. Reddy, the Managing Director of the HMRL, said they started the special hygiene drives at all the stations, especially where the number of commuters and human contact are high.
The HMRL authority would also create awareness about the Novel Coronavirus with the help of announcements in the stations.
The Telangana Health Ministry and HMRL assured people, there is no need to panic, as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) made all the necessary arrangements for the same.
K.T. Rama Rao, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister of Telangana and Etela Rajendar, the Health Minister of Telangana are closely monitoring the situation.
Scientists and medical teams in China are trying to make a vaccine or cure for the virus as it is not yet a curable disease.
So far, the Novel Coronavirus killed more than 3,000 people and left 88,000 people infected across the world.
