A massive fire broke out at the GMR Energy Power Plant in the Kakinada region of Andhra Pradesh.
The incident occurred during the early hours of the 25th of September, Saturday. The power plant which was not functional since the past five years witnessed a massive fire, spreading thick smoke throughout the entire surrounding. The reason behind the major fire is said to be due to the process of dismantling the plant.
The incident was reported by people residing in the region near the Grandhi Mallikarjuna Rao (GMR) Power Plant. Soon, fire brigade and police officials rushed to the spot. The fire fighters are trying to control the fire.
According to the fire fighters, no casualties and major consequences were reported in the GMR fire incident.
However, people residing near the power plant expressed anguish and complained of thick smoke in the area. Meanwhile, the police and the GMR officials launched a detailed investigation into the incident, which happened today morning.
As of now, the GMR officials are tight lipped about the incident and gave no statement to the media.
