On the 8th of November, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, addressed a press meet and announced a protest.

During the press meet on Monday evening, Mr. K. Chandrashekhar Rao said, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) would stage a protest in all the Assembly constituencies of Telangana, on the 12th of November.

The protes would be in regard to the demand of the State Government. The Telangana Government is demanding the Central Government to procure the entire paddy crop from the farmers of Telangana. He also asked the citizens of Telangana to ask the BJP leaders across the State to procure the crops of the farmers.

Responding to the remarks of the BJP President Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao said, “The BJP leaders must answer whether the Centre would purchase paddy or not. Until they reply to our question, we would continue to question them. Let the Centre come out in open and declare its policy, to allow farmers to decide.”

The Telangana Chief Minister also asked the BJP to prove their commitment of procuring paddy from farmers. He said the BJP is showing double standards and against this, the TRS has organised the protest on Friday, the 12th of November.

KCR said, “Bandi Sanjay had been bluffing the farmers of Telangana by encouraging them to cultivate paddy and giving them the false hope that the state BJP will ensure that the produce is procured.”

In addition, the Telangana Chief Minister also spoke about the rising prices of petrol and diesel. He asked the Central Government to withdraw the central cess levied on petroleum products and bring down the rising fuel prices.

It is to be noted, the BJP led Central Government increased the cess on petroleum products 16 times since 2014. Whereas, the TRS Government has not increased the VAT even once since 2014, despite the rise of cess by the Central Government.

Highlighting the same, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao said, “The slight rise in 2015, was due to rationalisation of different taxes and combining them. The BJP leaders want to blame the States for the increased petroleum prices, though it is the Union government which is imposing cess to avoid sharing the revenue with the States.”

Concluding the press conference, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao said that he would hold press conferences on a daily basis to expose the double standards of the BJP.

The war of words between the BJP and the TRS intensified after the Huzurabad Assembly by election. The TRS lost against Mr. Eatala Rajender, the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of the BJP.
