New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has assured chilli farmers of necessary assistance following a significant drop in prices. He urged farmers not to panic, stating that the state government is actively addressing the issue.

Speaking to the media in New Delhi, the Chief Minister revealed that he had discussed the price drop with the Central government. “Earlier, high global market prices benefited farmers, but the current decline is due to reduced global demand. I have informed Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who will review the situation with officials on Friday,” Naidu said.

During his visit to Delhi, the CM attended the swearing-in ceremony of the Delhi Chief Minister before meeting Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and CR Patil. He noted that Andhra Pradesh aims to procure 12 lakh metric tonnes of chilli this year, with four lakh metric tonnes already purchased.

Naidu also discussed key state projects, including the Jal Jeevan Mission and Polavaram project, with Water Resources Minister CR Patil. He reiterated the state’s commitment to utilizing water resources efficiently and sought the Centre’s cooperation for shifting water from Polavaram to Banakacherla.
