Dream Home Delivered: Andhra Joins 3 Lakh Families in New Houses

In a sweeping welfare outcome, the Andhra Pradesh government has officially handed over 3,00,192 completed houses to beneficiaries across the state in an event held virtually from Devagudipalli (village) in the Annamayya district on Wednesday.

Under flagship programmes including the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) categories—Urban, Rural and Janman—the breakdown of the new homes is as follows: 2,28,034 under PMAY–BLC, 65,292 under PMAY–Gramin, and 6,866 under PMAY–Janman.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the mass “Gruhapravesam” event virtually, emphasising the coalition government’s drive to realise the long-cherished dream of a home for every poor family. He credited the free-sand policy and accelerated project clearances for achieving this milestone within just 17 months of assuming office.

The event recognised thousands of families entering their new homes simultaneously. Local MLAs and ministers conducted house-warming ceremonies in their constituencies, while the Chief Minister interacted with beneficiaries and reviewed development progress.

The scale and speed of this rollout underscore the state government’s commitment to welfare and inclusive growth. Officials say groundwork now focuses on further expansion—aiming to scale up housing output ahead of the March 2026 deadline when the target is to complete 10 lakh homes.

For many, the keys handed over today mark not just a structure, but the promise of security, dignity and a fresh start.
