BCCI nominates Virat Kohli for Khel Ratna, Ajinkya for Arjuna Award

New Delhi: Indian cricket test team captain, Virat Kholi has received a nomination for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award which is the country’s biggest sporting honor. Kholi has rocked his performance in 2016 and has been recognized by the BCCI. Ajinkya Rahane has been nominated for the Arjuna Award.
Sports Ministry official said, “we have received the recommendations from the BCCI. Their names will be sent to the awards selection committee.”

The 27-year-old, Kholi carried the entire cricket team almost single handedly at the WorldT20 winning the player of the tournment award in the process and Ajinkya Rahane has massively been successful in two formats of the game. He has enjoyed a successful run in the side, especially in tests, in the past year or so.
Earlier it was Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni who received the Khel Ratna, which carries a cash reward Rs 7.5 lacs. Rs 5 lacs are awarded to the Arjuna Award winner.
