The Andhra Pradesh Government announced to withdraw the controversial three capitals law in the Legislative Assembly. The decision to withdraw the controversial three capitals law was taken during an urgent Cabinet meeting called by Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.) The Cabinet meeting was held on the 22nd of November.

After the announcement, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) is going to introduce a bill to repeal the law in the ongoing Assembly session.

It is to be noted, in 2020, the YSRCP Government proposed to have three capitals of A.P. Besides Amaravati, the State Government proposed Kurnool and Visakhapatnam also to be the state capitals. Although the proposal was taken in the view of growth and development of the State, the opposition and the people of Amaravati are criticising the ruling Government for the same.

The decision is said to be a victory for Amaravati people, who were against the law proposed by the YSRCP Government.
