Mr. Nara Lokesh, the General Secretary of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) slammed the ruling Government of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) over the Disha Law.

On the 23rd of August, the TDP leader demanded an explanation from Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of A.P., regarding the delay in lodging complaints and taking action. Mr. Nara Lokesh asked the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) to explain why women are unable to book a case using the app under the YSRCP’s Disha Act 2019.

The TDP leader slammed the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy Government for promising justice to women and completion of trials within 14 days. He added, during the launch, the State Chief Minister spoke about completion of court hearings in just 14 days and hanging of the guilty within 21 days of the crime, but why it is not happening.

The criticism of Mr. Nara Lokesh came after the recent Ramya murder case. Recently, on the 15th of August, a 20 year old B.Tech student Nallapu Ramya was stabbed to death. She was murdered by a native of Mutluru Village identified as Kunchala Sasi Krishna, 22 years old. The reason of the murder is said to be love affair and revenge over cheating. The incident soon became a huge matter in Andhra Pradesh, demanding justice for Nallapu Ramya.

Mr. Nara Lokesh and other leaders of the TDP criticised the ruling Government for not taking action and giving punishment to the accused under the State Government’s Disha Act. He said only 13 days were remaining for the 21 day Disha deadline in the Ramya Guntur case. The accused has still not received any punishment for the crime. He asked the State Government to explain and brief about the progress they made in completing the investigation.

Mr. Nara Lokesh continued his criticism against Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy and his Government. He said the Disha Act of the YSRCP was nothing but ‘cheap publicity’ for political gains.

He also highlighted that the YSRCP Government’s Disha Law did not get the approval of the Union Government. He concluded his criticism by terming the Disha Act as one of those government orders (GOs) of the Andhra Pradesh Government under the leadership of Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
