On the 15th of June, the Telangana Police registered a case against a local leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for violations of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown norms in Telangana.

Recently, the BJP leader organised a grand party for his granddaughter’s birthday on the 11th of June. For the massive event, the BJP leader organised a dance party and called many guests, flouting all COVID-19 norms.

As per M. Narayana, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Vikarabad, the party was organised on the intervening night of June 11 and the 12th of June. He said, “A Hijra (transgender) dance was organised on intervening night of June 11 and June 12 and a case was registered on Monday against the responsible person under sections 188, 290, 269 of (the) Indian Penal Code, 51 (B) of Disaster Management Act, section 3 of Epidemic Disease Act, and section 34 (a)and 15(4) of Telangana State (TS) Excuse Act 1968.”

The incident came into light after a video went viral on social media platforms.

Meanwhile, as of now, Telangana has 19,922 positive cases. In addition, the State Government has imposed a lockdown in the State till the 19th of June, to control the COVID-19 infection.
