On Friday, the Mumbai airport police put a 31 year old man behind bars for allegedly flashing and inappropriately touching a co passenger on board in a Bengaluru to Mumbai flight.
The accused has been identified as Sabeen Hamza and he was booked under the Sections 354, 354 (1) (A) and 509 of IPC, which deal with molestation and outraging the modesty of a woman.
The woman passenger has reported she felt Hamza touching her inappropriately because of which she suddenly woke up. Further, she noticed him trying to zip his trousers and she immediately raised an alarm. The crew warned Hamza and handed him over to the airport security once the flight landed in Mumbai.
Security officials along with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF,) took the accused to the airport police station and arrested him.
This incident has occurred barely two weeks after a man on board was caught masturbating in an IndiGo flight from Hyderabad to Delhi.
The first such high profile incident occurred in the year 2006, where a woman had accused Kerala PWD Minister, P.J. Joseph for misbehaving with her in an aircraft.
A popular news channel reported these incidents have become common as they interviewed several flight attendants, who narrated their version of incidents that frequently occur mid air.
