On Monday, the Chinese President Xi Jinping inaugurated the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) 9th annual summit.

The summit is being conducting while North Korea’s threats are continuing to rise. On Sunday, North Korea sent out word that it had tested its most powerful nuclear hydrogen bomb. This bomb can be loaded on an intercontinental ballistic missile. According to their reports the explosion will cause a 6.3 tremor.

A few experts have said that the BRICS summit will also concentrate on the Sino-India ties.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in China on Sunday evening and will be having bilateral talks with the Chinese President. India and China just recently ended their 73 day long border standoff in Doklam.

It is likely that Narendra Modi will address the growing terrorism problem in the world and insist on strict measures.

President Jinping spoke to PM Modi and requested him to adopt a more ‘holistic’ approach which can include ‘symptoms and root causes.’

The three day summit among the five countries will focus on development, peace talks and economic partnerships.
