On Tuesday night, Belgian soldiers patrolling Central Station shot a suspect after a small explosion. The police believe this to be a ‘terror attack.’

Spokesman of the Belgian federal prosecutor’s office, Eric Van der Sypt, said after the blast that “the suspected perpetrator was neutralized by the soldiers present.” He also said that there were no casualties on injuries in the explosion.

He also said the station was immediately evacuated. Van der Sypt also said that he was unsure if the suspect survived the shot. The identity, according to reports, is also unknown.

Brussels has been on high alert after suicide bombers killed more than 30 people at the airport and subway station in March 2016. This incident is the third attack in two days.

On Monday, a motorist rammed a police van on Paris’s Champs-Élysées. In early hours on Monday, a van driver hit a group of Muslims outside a north London mosque.
