1. Irrawaddy Dolphin:
These are oceanic dolphins and mostly found in sea coasts, ponds and rivers in the Southeast Asia mostly near the Bay of Bengal. Belonging to the euryhaline species, these dolphins were first described by Sir Richard Owen in 1866 after he found a specimen in the harbor of Visakhapatnam in India. Their weird unicolor and head shape makes them weirdest looking of the dolphin family.
2. Saiga Antelope:
The critically endangered species is mostly found in the Precaspian region of Russia and three areas in Kazakhstan (the Ural, Ustiurt and Betpak-Dala populations.) Their nose is shaped weirdly so as to protect the animal from the dust that is kicked up by the herd while running.
3. Goblin Shark:
A rare deep-sea shark, the goblin shark is pink-skinned animal has a distinctive profile with an elongated, flattened snout, and highly protrusive jaws containing prominent nail like teeth. The cute little Gobi Jerboa is a jumping rodent and found in Chinese and Mongolian deserts. These rodents get around by jumping and do not drink water. The required moisture is gained by the food it eats, mostly insects. This weird animal was used by Great Britain as a mascot during World War II.
5. Aye Aye:
Found extensively in Madagascar, the Aye Aye belongs to the family of monkeys and chimpanzees. It is a lemur with rodents like teeth and a special thin middle finger. It is also the world’s largest nocturnal primate. Their size causes them no hindrance in jumping both vertically and diagonally to considerable heights.
6. Red Lipped Batfish:
These baitfish are generally found near the Galapagos Islands and gets its name because of the bright red lips. They are found near the Peru Island too and at depths of 3 to 76 meters.
