Telangana government to bring in armed forces to clean up the streets

Telangana government to bring in armed forces to clean up the streets: City of Hyderabad is in crisis mode. Government is going ‘all hands to deck’ scenario but ended up no where. If it was a political crisis, KCR would definitely would have made some progress, but this is Garbage crisis. Chief Minister can’t exactly jump into situation (I mean literally he can’t!!). So government is left in soup about the situation.

GHMC outsourcing staff are now on strike for eight days continuously, resulting in Garbage accumulation all over the city. The Telangana government on Monday asked them to call off their agitation by Monday evening and report to their duties by Tuesday morning.

The government made it clear that their job contracts will be cancelled if they failed to resume their duties by Tuesday morning. It also warned of bringing in the Army and police to control the agitations.

The government warned of army deployment if they interrupted cleaning activities by other workers. In fact there have been several incidents of striking staff either obstructing or attacking those who joined duties in the past one week.

However, the point to note down is that never before in the history was an army called to clear out the garbage. Even if the government wants to, the officials are clueless about how the Army can be deployed as it is under the Centre government’s command.

Surprisingly these warning didn’t seem to work on the employees as they are vowing to intensify the strike.
