The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed several cases against the co founder and executive co chairperson of NDTV, Prannoy Roy for causing losses to ICICI Bank, amounting to Rs. 48 crores.

The CBI has also registered cases against Radhika Roy, Prannoy’s wife, a private company and few others involved in the case. Reports state the CBI has raided Roy’s residence on Tuesday. According to a news agency, “Searches are being conducted today at four places including Delhi and Dehradun.”

A FIR stated that the RRPR Holdings Private Limited company, owned by Roy has defaulted on a loan of Rs. 48 crores from ICICI bank. However, NDTV released a statement which slams all these allegations. The Statement by the company said,

“This morning, the CBI stepped up the concerted harassment of NDTV and its promoters based on the same old endless false accusations.

NDTV and its promoters will fight tirelessly against this witch hunt by multiple agencies. We will not succumb to these attempts to blatantly undermine democracy and free speech in India.
We have one message to those who are trying to destroy the institutions of India and everything it stands for: we will fight for our country and overcome these forces.”
